On the south shore, fishing has been a little on the tough side, with a lot of smaller fish being caught and having to filter through to find the good eaters, although there has been a good number of bigger slot fish being caught. Rattle baits in the early morning and evening have been productive, and then downsizing to spoons and tungsten jigs tipped with a fathead or frozen shiner head during the day to get the finicky fish to bite. Most are fishing deep mud off structure in 25-35’, and others fishing on top of structure in 16-22’ and having good luck in the mornings and evenings but typically slower during the day in the shallower water.Pike anglers are having luck fishing on the first shoreline breaks in 8-15’, or on the top of mid-lake structure, using frozen smelt and live sucker minnows under tip-ups.
