It has been one of the latest, and fastest, thaws in quite sometime. Most of the NW Angle is open, but yesterday the wind pushed the ice back into Young’s Bay. Bobby’s Bay, by Oak island, still has ice and most places in the area will not be able to get to their docks yet. There is open water from Oak, all the way North, to the Tranquil Channel, Big Narrows, and Sunset Channel. Ice is gone from Warroad to Buffalo Point, Also from Rocky Point to the Rainy River. Shoal lake is still iced over along with Kenora to the Alneau. Predicting total ice out in the next week or so. Still 2 full days before walleye opener, things are moving fast. Will keep watching the lake and give you updates. Have fun and be safe out there!
