05-17-20 Lake of the Woods Fishing ReportOur owner, Nick, was lucky enough to get out on the lake with his family this weekend. Their best fishing was in 13 feet of water near Elm Point. All of the fish were caught on jigs and minnows. Live chubs seemed to produce better than frozen shiners. They had better luck moving around, rather…
05-13-20 Lake of the Woods Fishing ReportTwo of our mangers, Austin and Brent, got out after work for a couple hours and were able to bring a limit of fish home, and also got a bonus 30″. Anchored up and vertically jigging, with frozen shiners in 25 feet off of a rock reef, was the most productive technique. Using electronics to…
05-11-20 Lake of the Woods Fishing ReportFishing was good at the NorthWest Angle. Green or Orange jigs with shiners worked best in 16 to 18 feet of water. Water temp is still mid 30’s-40’s in most places, so expect fish to move shallower as the water warms.
05-04-20 Lake of the Woods Fishing ReportFishing Manager, Austin, was out fishing for sturgeon over the weekend. Saturday was better than Sunday, but overall both days were good, landing several fish over 54″ each day (The biggest being 59″). Started up at the gap for a couple hours, but the best luck came further down river. Bring lots of crawlers, the…
03-23-20 Lake of the Woods Fishing ReportPike: The fish have really moved in now. The best action was in two feet of water (5′ including ice). Most of the fish were nicely sized. Three people, including our fishing manager Austin, caught four fish between 37″ and 40″. They also brought in many smaller fish, making for a good day of fishing. …
03-18-20 Lake of the Woods Fishing ReportBig Walleye are starting to move into shallower water on the south end of LOTW. Spend time in 16 to 18 feet of water for best results. Fishing just off of any structure has been producing decent fish. Expect this trend to continue for the coming week. Make sure you stop in to check out…
03-14-20 Lake of the Woods Fishing ReportOne of our goals at The Woods is to give you an honest fishing report. Right now, the bite is tough all around. Northern’s are still staged in front of Warroad with the biggest ones being in about 10 feet of water. Walleye fishing has been tough. The people who are mobile and aggressive will…
03-09-20 Lake of the Woods Fishing ReportFishing Manager, Austin, was having good action along the South Shore. The fish were anywhere from 6-10 feet. iFish Pro Tip-Ups, with live suckers and frozen smelt on BigTooth Rigs, worked best. Not a ton of flags yet, but the average size of fish was very good, most fish being around 34-40″. With the spawn…
03-07-20 Lake of the Woods Fishing ReportOur Store Manager, Brent, got out on the ice this weekend. Northern fishing was slow going out of Warroad, and the snow conditions were less than ideal because of the warmer temperatures. Pickups were getting stuck, but snowmobiles and ATV’s were able to get around without issue.
02-28-20 Lake of the Woods Fishing ReportNorthern fishing has really heated up on the South Shore. Fish are starting to stage up shallow, and getting ready to spawn, anywhere from 6-12 feet. This depth has been working really well to bring in the big fish.
